Eston Dunn began his career in the allied health field in 1987 after becoming certified with the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America [AFAA]. In health and fitness training Eston continued his education and successfully earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Communication and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Exercise Science and Wellness from Florida Atlantic University as well as a Master of Science in Health Science from Stafford University. He also holds certifications from AFAA in Group Exercise Leadership, STEP Aerobics, Weight-Room Training; the American Council on Exercise [ACE] in Personal Training; and from the American College of Sports Medicine [ACSM] as a Health and Fitness [Specialist] Instructor; eventually becoming a preparatory certification specialist for the cPT and HFS certifications. He has dedicated his life to health and fitness, and continues to uphold the highest standards of education at the Florida College of Natural Health, Fort Lauderdale Campus, where he teaches human science courses [Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology…] to massage therapy students. Eston has been in the massage field since 2001 and currently holds his Florida license in massage [LMT].
After eight years as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist for Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale working with Dr. Dean Ornish, Eston worked as a Health Educator with the Broward Country Department of Health [specializing in HIV/AIDS Education]. Eston has also lectured for many years on the topic of HIV/AIDS and has become an HIV/AIDS Educator through the Broward County Department of Health & American Red Cross as well as being a certified [ARC] CPR instructor.
Somehow, through his busy schedule as a dedicated teacher, fitness expert, and HIV/AIDS advocate Eston has managed to become a celebrated author. He has several Science Fiction books and Off-Broadway Plays under his belt [pen name is E. Robert Dunn]. In addition, Eston has had health and fitness articles published. Eston is also the founder of ArtsUnited, Inc., a non-profit artist networking organization based in Ft. Lauderdale. ArtsUnited, Inc. provides a platform for up and coming artists who present a positive image of gays and lesbians, thus breaking down the traditional stereotyping barriers that have kept either the art and/or the artists from mainstream recognition.
In 2004, Eston was nominated for the ArtServe Encore Awards as Artist of the Year. That same year, Eston won the ACCSCT National Instructor of the Year Award and in 2007 the FAPSC Faculty Member of the Year, a Florida State Award.
